It’s time to get serious about your diet. Snacking is an issue with most people. Snacking is a good thing if you eat the right things and don’t over consume. It keeps you from being hungry and ruining your meals.

Here are some healthy snack alternatives to get you through the day.

Air-popped Popcorn

Air-popped popcorn is a great alternative to potato chips. Use a hot air popper and one ounce of kernels. It will pop up about 3 cups of delicious popcorn.  It has around 110 calories and 1 gram of fat. Good stuff! Definitely watch out for the movie popcorn and even some microwave popcorns. A medium tub of popcorn at your local theater has about 1,200 calories and 60 grams of saturated fat!

Apple Slices with Peanut Butter

Apple and peanut butter tastes great!

A medium apple has 95 calories. Almost entirely carbohydrate, an apple contains valuable nutrients including chromium, a mineral that assists with regulating blood sugars. It’s also a great source of fiber.

Peanut butter is a very popular spread. It’s tastes great and it melts in your mouth. Peanut butter has all 3 macronutrients with 13% of calories coming from carbohydrate, 15% from protein and 72% coming from fat. A tablespoon of peanut butter contains about 100 calories.

Slice your apple and dip the slices in your peanut butter. It’s a snack with around 200 calories and its delicious.

Celery Sticks with Cream Cheese

Celery sticks and cream cheese are a classic low carbohydrate snack.

Celery is a very low calorie food, but it’s filled with essential vitamins and minerals. It boosts lipid metabolism and is rich in electrolytes, antioxidants, potassium, B vitamins and vitamin C.

Cream cheese is tasty but its very high in fat calories. A single serving of cream cheese is one tablespoon. A serving is 50 calories with 44 calories from fat.

Dip your celery slices in your cream cheese and get the flavor but keep your quantity of cream cheese low.
