Spring Is Here

The last day of winter has arrived (officially March 20th, 2018) and spring is upon us. Spring is a time of renewal, rebirth, and reawakening.  It’s also a great time to revisit your fitness goals.

Maybe you created a New Year’s resolution or two. How are they doing? Are you meeting your goals? Perhaps you’re chugging away on your same old fitness routine and you could use a tune up. If you’re just starting your new fitness regimen then congratulations!

Whatever your situation, use this spring to reevaluate your goals, reinforce your good habits and find ways to improve your routine.

  1. Take a step back.

Take a pause in your day or week and reflect on what you’ve been doing. Think about your choices.  Are you making good choices? Are you benefiting from these choices?  It’s easy to get into a routine and not see that direction your heading.  Is your nutrition in line with your workouts? Are you taking care of your joints? Are you monitoring your injuries or sore areas? Take an assessment of where you’re at.

  1. Are your goals clear?

Spring is a great time to ask if you’re doing the right things. You’re a few months into the year. There’s still plenty of time to meet your goals for the year.  If they are the right goals.  Write your goals down and contemplate them.  Think about what it will be like to meet your goals.  Are they the right goals for you? Once you have your goals and you’re clear, get focused. Zero in on your goals and know what you must do to achieve them.

  1. Are you doing the right things?

Your goals are clear, and you know what you want to achieve. It’s time to ask yourself if you’re doing the right things to meet your goals. If your goal is weight loss, are you doing the right things to lose weight? If you have a new performance goal you’re trying to reach, is your training taking you in the right direction?

Take a good look at your fitness routine. Look at the exercises you’re doing. If you’re bored ask yourself what you can change to make it more fun. Can you push yourself more? Talk with your trainer. Ask your friends about their routines. Get some outside influence for new ideas. Change things up if you need to.

  1. Are you rewarding yourself?

You do all the work to get yourself in shape its important to reward yourself. Acknowledge the effort and hard work you’ve put in by treating yourself to something.  Buy some new clothes that show off your toned body. Go out to a nice restaurant for a wonderful meal. Go for a spa day and let yourself unwind.  Whatever is a reward for you, indulge yourself. Remind yourself there’s a reason you do all this hard work.
